Costa Rica Horse Tours
Costa Rica Horse Tours is located in Costa Rica. We are a family owned and operated business, but the most important fact is that we are real horse people. Joanne is the founder of a tourism company in Costa Rica that has been in continous operation for over 20 years. Prior to moving to Costa Rica she managed a number of travel agencies in the United States. She is a Certified Travel Consultant, which is the highest accreditation a travel agent can acheive. Joanne has been riding for over 30 years and still competes in dressage.
Beth, Joanne's daughter, works alongside her mother in the travel business. Her credentials as a horsewoman are impressive to say the least. Beth is an FEI International Jumping Judge and Secretary General of the Costa Rican National Equestrian Federation. She is also the owner and one of the instructors of Centro Equestre del Oeste equestrian school. Her horses frequently compete in international competitions throughout Central America.
Joanne's granddaughter, Michelle, competes in open jumper classes, dressage, and endurance races. Michelle often guides some of Costa Rica Horse Tours rides when she is on vacation from the University of Costa Rica. She is also one of the instructors for the summer camps at Centro Equestre del Oeste equestrian school. The whole family organizes and rides in short and long cabalgatas (trail rides) and are the support team for Michelle when she competes in endurance races.
Mike, Joanne's son, is the head of marketing for Costa Rica Horse Tours. He has worked for travel wholesalers in the United States and has guided groups (on foot) in Costa Rica. He is the non-riding member of the family. He spends his summers in Costa Rica with his children.
